MDB Announces Work-From-Anywhere Policy and DC-Relocation

And just like that, the whole world changed with COVID-19

(Washington, DC – August 17, 2020) MDB, a DC-based agency of more than 30-years, announced it will relocate to The Studio @ 900 19th Street, NW, 5th Floor in the District and allow employees to work from home, or anywhere, permanently.

MDB’s announcement follows the recent remote-work statements of Facebook, Twitter and Google and is a stark change for a corporate culture built around getting workers into offices.

“It’s remarkable the ways in which COVID-19 has changed our everyday routines, and that absolutely includes our everyday work. We can all agree that, for the foreseeable future, remote work is going to shape our personal and business decisions as well. The spontaneous ‘stress test’ to work from home since March 13th has proven to be surprisingly successful,” said MDB CEO Cary Hatch.

More than five months later, many executives are discovering that their remote workers performedbetter than expected and productivity remained high, she added.

In addition, she added, recent METRO ridership procedures, the evolving regional COVID protocols and protests near the agency’s current offices, which are two blocks from the White House, created a challenging environment, while the option to work from anywhere brought multiple work-life balance benefits.

According to Hatch, recruitment and retention of diverse, high-caliber talent is a driving force behind the decision. Remote work is increasingly important for young professionals and has been trending as a critical component of employment for a growing number of technology-centric and creative employees.

“The ability to support our clients from multiple remote locations throughout the country is paying off. Our social media team members near the West Coast and our creative production teams in NYC have long benefitted from a work-from-anywhere philosophy; now all MDB team members can do the same,” said Hatch.

MDB’s new headquarters at The Studio @ 900 19th Street, as of September 1, 2020 offers a creative contemporary studio environment with abundant conference rooms, private phone booths, fitness center, bike room, and vast rooftop views of the city. Rooftop Wi-Fi with monitors and entertainment premises enhance the experience. Breakfast every Monday or Tuesday with weekly happy hours is a plus, as is the use of the NY and Chicago studios.
